Welcome to Magic in Motion, where real people share how they’ve manifested their goals—the process, the magic, and the unexpected twists along the way.
Welcome to Magic in Motion, a series where real people share how they’ve manifested their goals—the process, the magic, and the unexpected twists along the way.
In these stories, you’ll find both inspiration and practical insights to help you on your own journey.
This week, I’m featuring Suzanne Arjona of The Alchemy of You. I first connected with Suzanne not long after joining Substack, and she’s since helped me recognise powerful patterns through Human Design.
Her story is a testament to trusting the process—taking leaps of faith, believing in what you deserve, and letting the universe handle the rest.
Read on to see how it all unfolded.
What goal were you manifesting, and why was it important to you?
My goal was to get into a new place to live that I could afford without having to give up my business and get a full time job. I was getting a divorce and had built my coaching and holistic health practice alongside staying home to raise my twin boys while my husband worked to provide for the family. My business didn’t provide a “liveable” income, but for the family it provided the “extras” plus it was something of my own. As much as I couldn’t stay in the marriage, I also knew I couldn’t give up what I had built in my business and was such a big part of me.
What is your personal approach to manifestation?
Being in the personal development arena for 25+ years, manifesting was my nemesis. I didn’t have the attention span for journaling (plus past events made me wary of committing anything from my heart on to something as permanent as ink on paper).
Vision boards and visualizing always left me wondering “what if”—what if this isn’t what’s really meant for me?
For the most part, manifesting for me has been taking action in the general direction I needed to go and not knowing how it would eventually turn out.
What steps did you take toward achieving your goal?
I’d like to say that I took solid action to manifest my new apartment, but I didn’t. At least, I didn’t think I did at the time.
I stayed firm in my mind that I didn’t want to give up my business for a job, and I knew in my heart that this was a new starting point in my life, that there was a whole new world waiting for me.
I shared my situation with close friends, and I sought out a part time job for a bit of steady income to supplement my business income.
Which parts of the process did you surrender to the universe?
I guess the whole process was left to the universe, though I didn’t see that at the time. I don’t think I consciously left it to spirit. I really hadn’t done any active searching or planning before events began to unfold. I simply knew in my heart that something would show up.
Were there moments where everything aligned in ways you couldn't have planned?
The moment a friend called me to ask if I was still looking for a new apartment was the kickoff. She had been walking her dog as she always does and ran into an elderly neighbour. At some point in their chat, he told her that he had his old house across town that he and his wife rented out.
I contacted him and found out that the rental was the entire first floor of a duplex (2BR, 1 BA, huge kitchen, living room, dining room, basement storage, and private off street parking) and the rent was half what a standard apartment would cost.
He and his wife owned the house and only needed money to cover taxes and such. They maintained the grounds (shovelling snow, mowing the yard, etc). And I could move in right away!
The timing, the price, and the randomness of finding it through a friend all fell into place so perfectly.
At the same time, I needed to find a part-time job to supplement my unsteady business income. This also came about in a similar fashion. I applied at a local shop telling them my situation and that I hadn’t filled out a job application in over 15 years. At the third interview, I also told them that I didn’t have an alternative plan, I hadn’t applied anywhere else. If I didn’t get this job, I would be starting over from scratch.
They hired me at a rate higher than I had expected having not been in the workforce for so many years, and then I found out that, even part-time, I would get full benefits, something I hadn’t even considered!
How long did it take for everything to come together?
It was very quick. I first asked for the divorce mid-February (that heart-opening experience is a whole other story!) I got the part-time job in March. I moved into the apartment in June, on my birthday weekend.
Did you experience any doubts along the way? How did you work through them?
I did have doubts, mainly about finances. But I kept reminding myself that I had been through worse times in the past and I always survived. I had been homeless at one time, I had travelled like a nomad around the country at another time. Things always worked out, usually in ways I couldn’t have expected.
Did the outcome match what you envisioned, or were there surprises?
Because I hadn’t imagined anything specific, I can’t say yes. But I knew the idea of what I needed and wanted and it came into my life better than I could have predicted and in a way I would have never imagined.
What advice would you give to someone trying to manifest something similar?
Discover your manifesting type! When this all happened, I hadn’t yet found Human Design. My friends all tried to help me ‘manifest’ my new life with visualisation and vision boards and such, but I never felt comfortable doing those. I figured I just wasn’t doing it right so it wouldn’t work.
I only know now, looking back, that it’s because my manifesting type is what’s called “non-specific”. For me it’s about the ‘feelings’ of what I want or need rather than the specifics.
I didn’t visualise the huge apartment with private parking and landlords that acted like caring parents. That’s what appeared when I imagined I needed enough space to live without struggling financially and somewhere I could begin my new life.
Were there any setbacks or challenges that ended up helping you?
The entire divorce process was a challenge, but I knew that if I didn’t take that step I wouldn’t be able to continue growing as a person. Even being able to let the boys live with their father rather than going the traditional route of mom keeping the kids.
Have you noticed any patterns in how manifestations unfold for you?
As I touched on above, I’ve discovered that there are different ways of manifesting and now I am more comfortable knowing how to set my intentions. When I try to be too specific, I get stuck and feel locked in a box.
For me, letting go and letting the universe show up with more than I might expect and in ways I couldn’t imagine is still difficult, but it always seems to work out.
What role do belief and action play in successful manifestation?
I think both belief and action play a role. But that’s also based on manifestation type. Some people can lay out a detailed formula of what they want, but then need to let it go and let the universe take over.
Others need to be open to bigger possibilities and just have a general idea of what they want, but then take action toward making it happen.
With any of the types, however, I feel there needs to be some belief, not necessarily a belief that it will happen, but the belief that we deserve it. No matter how much we believe something could happen, we need to be open to receiving it.
Suzanne’s story is a reminder that manifestation isn’t always about having a rigid plan—it’s about holding the vision, trusting the process, and staying open to possibilities beyond what we can imagine.
Whether you manifest through specific goals or a general sense of direction, the key is believing you’re worthy of what you desire.

Yes, I love this story. We are all different. I once had a lady come to me completely frustrated because she had been told she HAD to create a vision board to manifest what she wanted. I told her she didn't and to find a way she enjoyed.
There isn't just one way to manifest, just like we are not all the same as shown in Suzanne's story.
